RR Series

The Gamma RR Series represents a versatile range of High Voltage Regulated Power Supplies, ideal for numerous applications. Utilizing advanced switch mode high voltage technology, the RR Series is available in various configurations, offering output voltages from 1KV to 550KV. Features
- Low Stored Energy: The use of high frequency (> 20KHz) and high voltage power supply techniques allows stored energy to be minimized, thus ensuring maximum safety for operating personnel and sensitive loads.
- Programming Output Voltage & Output Current: This feature allows the output voltage or output current to be remotely programmed from either an external voltage source or with external potentiometers connected to the internal reference voltage. A zero to +5V voltage source is required for full-scale programming. Internal circuitry ensures that the output voltage and output current cannot be externally programmed beyond the maximum settings of the front panel controls.
- Constant Voltage/Constant Current with Automatic Crossover: Dual control loops enable precise regulation of either voltage or current. Each parameter is controlled and limited by a ten-turn potentiometer located on the front panel. The automatic crossover feature between constant voltage and constant current allows the power supply to function as a voltage-regulated, current-limited system or as a current-regulated, voltage-limited system. Therefore, both output voltage and output current are completely under the operator's control under all load conditions, including overload and arc-over situations.
- Overload, Arc-Over & Short Circuit Protection: Full protection against any overload condition is inherent in the constant voltage/constant current design concept. This is further enhanced by the extensive use of surge-limiting resistors and reactive limiting. For the 600W, 1KW, and 3KW units, customers can select either constant current or a variable overload trip using a switch mounted on the front panel.
- Voltage Regulation: Line and load regulation is better than 0.005%. Note: For 1000 watt and 3000 watt units, load regulation is better than 0.01%.
- Current Regulation: Current regulation is better than 75 µA.
- Ripple: At 150 watts, the ripple is 0.02%. At 300, 600, and 1000 watts, the ripple is 0.05%. At 3000 watts, the ripple is 0.1%.
- Efficiency: Efficiency is generally greater than 75% at full load.
- External Polarity Reversal (Reversible Units Only): A reversing switch mechanism located at the rear of the power supply can be specified to facilitate polarity reversal.
- External Interlock/Output Inhibit: Circuitry is provided so that the user can, if desired, inhibit the output voltage. An external contact closure located on the rear terminal strip will enable the power supply. Open contacts will inhibit the power supply.
- Floating Ground: This feature allows the low-end return of the power supply to be isolated with respect to chassis ground. Please consult the factory.
- Remote Output Voltage & Current Monitoring: Voltage monitoring and true output current monitoring signals are provided at the rear terminal strip.
- Modular Construction: Modular construction techniques are used throughout this design, thus reducing downtime in critical applications.

Options
- Zero Voltage Start Interlock (ZVS): To avoid unintentional damage to loads, the output voltage control must be set to zero before applying the high voltage.
- Variable Overvoltage Protection (VOV): This option causes the power supply to shut down when the output voltage exceeds the setting of the overvoltage control potentiometer, which is located at the rear of the power supply and is adjustable from 20% to 110% of the maximum rated output voltage.
- Variable Overload Tripout (VOL): This option causes the power supply to shut down when the output current reaches the setting of the front panel current control, which is adjustable from 20% to 110% of the maximum output current of the power supply. This is a standard feature on the 600W, 1000W, and 3000W units. The front panel control allows the user to activate this feature as needed.
- Analog Panel Meter: Single Analog Panel Meter (SAPM) -Dual Analog Panel Meters (DAPM) A Single 3/2 analog meter reading both voltage and current is available. This meter replaces the two digital meters normally provided. Two analog meters can also be provided in place of the two analog meters normally provided.
- Slow Start (SS): The slow start option enables the output voltage of the power supply to ramp to its maximum output voltage setting at a linear rate. This rate can be factory set from one to fifteen seconds.
- Slave Bipolar Operation (SBP): Any two power supplies of the same voltage rating may be operated as a Bi-Polar pair. One power supply acting as the master controller will control both power supplies from zero to maximum rated output voltage. The output voltages of both power supplies will track each other within 2% from 10% to maximum rated output voltage. Each power supply is also capable of operating independently.
- TTL (TTL): Compatible "enable" line.
- Auxilary Output/Focus Tap (FT): This option provides an independent auxiliary output that is variable from zero to the maximum rated voltage of up to 15KV at a maximum of 300uA. Control is achieved via a front panel-mounted potentiometer. For other voltages and power levels, please consult the factory. Multiple auxiliary outputs are also available. Consult the factory for details.
- Remote Control Panel (RCP): Any standard model can be supplied with a control panel remote from the basic power supply. 20 feet of appropriately shielded interconnection is provided. This remote control panel replaces the front panel normally provided on standard units.
- 220 VOLT INPUT-50/60 Hz (220): 220 volt, 50-60 Hz. input is available
- BENCH CABINET (BC): A deluxe style cabinet is available for all models.
- Computer Control Interface (CIC): A computer control interface can be provided. Interface includes USB, RS232, RS485 and Ethernet options. Contact Factory for details.
